Business Case At the business case stage this framework can be used as part of the rationale for using external professional services alongside a summary of any alternatives expected to deliver, the benefits expected to flow from that and how they will be measured or demonstrated. Specification Once defined in the business case, these attributes, outputs and values should be included within the specification as a means of communicating customer expectations to the supply base. The specification needs also to consider how these requirements will be used in the evaluation of tenders and to clarify how delivery will be measured.  Engagement Almost all consultancy assignments require client and supplier teams to work together to support and deliver an effective outcome. By clearly defining consultancy roles, both parties will have a better understanding as to why they are there, what they are expected to contribute, and how they need to work together to meet the client objective. Post assignment review These values and expectations should remain a point of reference throughout the assignment to ensure both that delivery is on target and that the specification remains appropriate to the outcome. At post assignment review these values as presented in the business case become the baseline for measuring both supplier performance in meeting their commitments, and customer performance in making the right decision.
